The Glebe House

Leixlip, Co. Kildare

Project Details

The Glebe House, which was built in 1822, suffered extensive fire damage to the top floor and roof, with Lough Projects undertaking a full restoration while keeping its protected status at the foremost of our process.

The restoration works necessitated the complete replacement of the roof, extensive repairs to the plumbing system, a full rewire and the complete re-instatement of all internal lime plaster work, doors and floors on the top floor of the property.

Working closely with specialist conservators, sash windows were replaced, the existing windows were reinstated to operational condition, the original floorboards were carefully refinished and sections of the original cornice were remanufactured where required. The original hand rail and staircase was also salvaged and refinished, to preserve the original features and integrity of the staircase.
